Motion Detection: Neuronal Circuit Meets Theory
نویسندگان
چکیده
Motion detection in fly vision has been investigated experimentally and theoretically for half of a century, yet mechanistic insights into the neuronal computation have only started to emerge. In a recent issue of Nature, two studies provide major insights into how motion direction is extracted from the image flow projected onto the retina.

Motion detection by a moving observer using Kalman filter and neural network in soccer robot
In many autonomous mobile applications, robots must be capable of analyzing motion of moving objects in their environment. Duringmovement of robot the quality of images is affected by quakes of camera which cause high errors in image processing outputs. In thispaper, we propose a novel method to effectively overcome this problem using Neural Networks and Kalman Filtering theory. Thistechnique u...
متن کاملBi-directioal Motion Detection: A Neural Intelligent Model For Perception of Cognitive Robots
In this paper, a new neuronal circuit, based on the spiking neuronal network model, is proposed in order to detect the movement direction of dynamic objects wandering around cognitive robots. Capability of our new approach in bidirectional movement detection is beholden to its symmetric configuration of the proposed circuit. With due attention to magnificence of handling of blocking problems in...
متن کاملA Comprehensive Mathematical Model for Analysis of WR-Resolvers under Stator Short Circuit Fault
Wound-Rotor (WR) resolvers are the most widely used position sensors in applications with harsh environmental conditions. However, their performance is exposed to failure due to the high risk of short circuit (SC) fault. Although the output current of the resolver is negligible, its thin copper wires increase the probability of the short circuit fault. To avoid the propagation of the turn-to-tu...
متن کاملDoppler Radar Vital Signs Detection Method Based on Higher Order Cyclostationary
Due to the non-contact nature, using Doppler radar sensors to detect vital signs such as heart and respiration rates of a human subject is getting more and more attention. However, the related detection-method research meets lots of challenges due to electromagnetic interferences, clutter and random motion interferences. In this paper, a novel third-order cyclic cummulant (TOCC) detection metho...
متن کاملNonlinearity of the population activity to transparent motion
How to represent transparent motion with neuronal populations is important problem for the theory of multiple motion detection. Previous models are based on the assumption that the population activity to transparent motion is proportional to a linear combination of the responses to individual motions. However, there is a possibility that the population activity becomes a nonlinear combination o...
